Lily Pon | Lily Pon Ceramics

As an outsider and a first-generation Taiwanese immigrant, I turn to the land of East Texas to understand where I am and how I belong. I gather local clay, pine needles, and ashes to build a material relationship with a place that feels both unfamiliar and is grounding.

These elements carry traces of the landscape and allow me to form connections with a community and environment I did not grow up in. Working with what the land offers teaches me patience, humility, and to appreciate a slower pace that leads to belonging. Each piece becomes a record of learning to listen to this place and allowing it to shape me as much as I shape the clay. Through this process, I search for a sense of home that can hold both where I come from and where I am now.
